CCBG Architects in Phoenix has joined the effort to save St. Mary's Elementary School, which could be moved several blocks and converted into a new home for Valley Youth Theatre.

Architect Brian Cassidy said CCBG is interested because of the challenge and because the company's long-time relationship with the theater at 525 N. First St.

"I think everybody wants this to work," Cassidy said. "There are a lot of technical challenges. We're certainly beginning to work on whether it will fit on the property."

The main chore is moving the building at 315 E. Van Buren St. several blocks to the theater site at First and Fillmore streets. The school weighs…
