A recent New Mexico resident was charged today with murder in connection with the slaying of a priest who was found stabbed and bludgeoned to death last month at a monastery in Jemez Springs.
Steven DeGraff, 33, was already in custody on unrelated charges in the Santa Fe County Detention Center. He was transferred today to Sandoval County Jail and charged with an open count of murder, kidnapping, robbery, aggravated burglary, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property and six counts of tampering with evidence, Sandoval County Undersheriff Karl Wiese said this afternoon.
