My husband and I are members of Generation X: The many, the hapless, the skeptical and disinterested.

A generation also known as slackers.

We're the generation defined by MTV and grunge musicians from Seattle whose flannel and combat boots were more of a fashion statement than a necessity. We're the generation criticized for having no real causes, interests or issues.

Until Sept. 11 - a day that has redefined my generation.
