David N. Allen is leaving as assistant vice president of technology partnerships at Ohio State University for a similar job with the University of Colorado system at Boulder, Colo.

During the last five years, Allen, 50, has spearheaded several projects aimed at increasing Central Ohio's technology profile, with a heavy emphasis on moving research out of OSU into the business community.

"The decision is based on many push-and-pull factors, and the state budget situation didn't help," Allen said. "Ohio State has been good to me and the job has been rewarding. However, there are some compelling attraction factors the Colorado university system put on the table, not to mention. Colorado's robust technology community and its outdoor lifestyle."

Allen's last day at OSU is Feb. 8 and he begins his new position …
