The big news in tech for the last couple of weeks has been the latest paroxysm of consolidation in the electronic design automation (EDA) industry.

Synopsys Inc. announced its intended acquisition of Avant! Corp., and soon after, locally - headquartered Mentor Graphics Corp. announced a hostile takeover bid for IKOS Corp., which has already agreed to be acquired by Synopsys.

And featured prominently in all this frenzied deal-making is ongoing legal action.

Equity analysts have been busy digesting all of this activity, and have now pronounced on the possible outcomes of the merger activity.
