Women Who Smoke Take Big Chances.
2002 JAN 10 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Most women don't smoke, but the 22% who do are taking big chances with their health.
According to the December 2001 issue of Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource, smoking causes numerous health problems, many of which are life threatening. Although it is very hard to stop smoking, it is vital for women who smoke to conquer the addiction.
A recent surgeon general's report cited a 600% increase since 1950 in women's deaths from lung cancer. The report called the problem a full-blown epidemic. Smoking two packs a day makes women 20 times more likely to die from lung cancer than a nonsmoker. But smoking's cancerous effects ...
