2002 JAN 10 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Nabi (NABI) has signed a 10-year agreement with Inhibitex, Inc., of Atlanta, Georgia, to manufacture its lead investigational product, an immune globulin therapy for preventing staphylococcal infections in very low-birth-weight infants, at Nabi's manufacturing facility in Boca Raton, Florida. This is Nabi's second contract manufacturing agreement for the plant, which received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October.
"This agreement is another important milestone in Nabi's recent transformation to a fully integrated biopharmaceutical company," said David Gury, Nabi's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Our relationship with Inhibitex will allow us to use the plant's capacity more fully and expand our manufacturing capabilities. It will also provide additional revenues to support the development of our promising therapeutic candidates, including our investigational vaccines for preventing Staphylococcus aureus infections now in clinical trials, and treating nicotine addiction."
