2002 JAN 10 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Pfizer, Inc., has initiated a lawsuit against Barr Laboratories, Inc., for its challenge of the patent protecting Pfizer's FemHrt from generic competition. FemHrt is a continuous-combined HRT (CCHRT) indicated for women with an intact uterus for treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause and the prevention of osteoporosis. The product has annual sales of approximately $43 million, representing an increase of over 100% for the same period a year ago.
FemHrt is a tablet containing norethindrone acetate, 1 mg, and ethinyl estradiol, 5 mcg.
"The decision to pursue a generic FemHrt product complements our commitment to be a leading provider of female health care products, including hormonals and oral contraceptives, and is an important part of our overall business strategy," said Bruce L.
