Since its launch in 1991 Acura's NSX has hovered at the fringe of sports car greatness. The hand-built two-seat, mid-engine sports car served as a rolling technology test bed and showcase for Honda engineers. While technology continued to be poured into the car, the styling remained sedate. Virtually unchanged since 1995, the company's halo car was looking a bit dated.
All that changes for '02. The exterior has been extensively reworked, giving the car a sleeker profile, and with suspension and wheel/tire modifications, a more aggressive stance. Gone are the pop-up headlights, replaced with fixed-position, high-intensity discharge units. Changes were also made to the front bumper and chin spoiler while lower body side moldings continue the updated look around to the rear where a new bumper and functional air strakes have been added. The rear deck has been fitted with a new spoiler and taillight lenses.
