It's official: Baltimore has lost yet another convention, the sixth group to cancel since -- and because of -- the Sept. 11 tragedies.

Officials at the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association (www.baltimore.org) have confirmed the Church of God In Christ Inc., which was to bring its annual Auxiliaries in Ministry convention to town July 29 through Aug. 7, is pulling out. The convention is now scheduled for Indianapolis.

The move represents an estimated economic loss of $38.1 million to the local tourism industry, which had already lost five conventions worth $22.8 million since Sept. 11.
