Las Vegan Rachel Evans thinks her 69-year-old grandmother is special. So special, that Evans profiled her in an essay for the 2001 Colonel's Way Award contest.
The national contest, sponsored by KFC, called for fifth- and sixth-grade students to pay tribute to special seniors who made positive impacts on their lives.
Evans, a fifth-grader at The Meadows School, decided to interview and profile her grandmother, Elaine Scicchitano.
"It sounded like a lot of fun and the first person that came to mind was my grandmother," she says. "I love talking to her."
