Who Was Iceman?
He lived 5,300 years ago and died when he got caught in a sudden snowstorm in the Austrian Alps. Hikers found his body in 1991. He had been so well preserved in snow and ice that even his eyes remained intact for more than 5,000 years.
Was he a shepherd traveling over the mountains to reach home, or was he a hunter who headed into the mountains in search of game or the materials he needed to string his unstrung bow? No one knows for sure.
Scientists have been trying to piece together the life and times of the man now known as Iceman.
Iceman
* was 5 feet 2 inches tall and somewhere between 25 and 40 years old.
* was wearing just one boot.
