Background Bonus
That young people are often stressed out about not having friends, not looking good, and being embarrassed in front of a group isn't news. But these worries are now taking a back seat to a whole new set of concerns. According to several surveys of young people, their worries now include drugs, disease, the economy, parents losing their jobs, and gangs.
But not all stress is bad. There are two kinds of stress. Distress comes from unhappy events--death, divorce, failing a test. Eustress comes from happy events--doing well in school, graduation, winning an award. Both kinds of stress prepare your body to handle change and give you the extra energy to meet life's challenges.
