The Ontario Veal Association has launched the first branded veal program to hit Canada's supermarkets. Under the Certified Ontario VealT retail program, only veal producers who have been validated under the OVQAP on-farm component of the industry's Ontario Veal Quality Assurance Program can provide calves. In addition, packers and retailers must adhere to a protocol and performance criteria designed to maintain the integrity of the program and ensure adherence to both food safety and product quality standards.
