The animals and plants of a tropical rain forest depend upon one another for life. Rotting parts of trees and plants provide food for insects and other living things. Insects and smaller animals are food for larger animals.
What-eats-what is called food chain. Most animals eat more than one kind of food. That means the animals are in more than one food chain. Overlapping food chains are called a food web.
