What has stripes like a zebra's, has a face like a koala's, and is small enough to fit in your pocket? It's a newly discovered species of monkey! This monkey lives in a rain forest in Brazil.
A Swiss scientist discovered the monkey while walking near the Maues River in the Amazon rain forest. The scientist called the monkey a Maues marmoset, naming it after the river near which it was found.
SCIENCE WORDS
Scientists say the Maues marmoset is the third new monkey species to be discovered in Brazil in just two years. They believe that many more rain forest animals, plants, and insects have yet to be discovered.
