Your appearance is affected by your fitness level and the foods you eat. Your body needs certain nutrients for your muscles and bones to grow properly. Your muscles need the protein contained in foods from the meat group. Your bones need the calcium contained in foods from the milk group. However, many foods from both these groups also contain a lot of fat. Experts suggest choosing lean meats and low-fat dairy products.
By using what you know of good nutrition and food safety, you will be providing your body the nutrients it needs to grow. But the nutrients alone cannot make your muscles and bones strong. Exercise and proper posture are needed.
The Picture of Posture
Posture is the way you hold your body as you sit, stand, and move. Physical therapists say that good posture is the key to keeping both your muscles and bones fit.
If you have good posture, you should be able to draw an imaginary line from your neck straight down through your shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.
Good posture not only helps your muscles and bones, it makes you look good, too.
