Every time you exercise, you are building strong muscles and bones. Your heart, which is a muscle, benefits from exercise too. And your whole body benefits from having a strong heart.

Aerobic means oxygen-using. Aerobic exercise makes you breathe harder and your heart beat faster. Getting your heart to beat faster for 10 to 20 minutes three or four times a week makes it stronger and healthier.

Keep Cool! Cheer Your School!

If you feel very hot or dizzy while exercising or someone tells you that your face is very red, slow down and cool down. Rest for a while, and slowly drink some cool water. Here's a test: Can you yell a school cheer while you're running, jumping, or whatever? If you can't, you're overdoing it, and you should slow down.

The Main Suspect

Health experts are concerned about the low level of fitness among U.S. children. They suspect that watching TV is a major cause of this low fitness level. Scientists studied a group of children aged 7 to 12 while the children watched TV. The scientists discovered that watching television for 25 minutes or more caused the energy level in the children's bodies to drop lower than ft was when they were resting and doing nothing!
