The girls in the second and third-grade Brownie troops at Poe School are making teddy bears to give to babies arid children who have a disease called AIDS. This service project is fun for the girls and helps them learn how to sew. More important, it teaches them to help people who are very sick.
Many people help to fight a serious disease like AIDS. Medical experts, such as doctors and scientists, study the disease. They try to find medicines to treat the disease. They work to develop a vaccine to prevent the disease. Government agencies print materials about the disease. Schools may use these materials to teach people about the disease.
