Walter Dawson is trying to help his father, who has Alzheimer's disease. This disease affects the mind and memory The family's health insurance plan won't pay for the medicine Mr. Dawson needs. So Walter, who lives in Salem, Oregon, has met with the governor and state lawmakers. He has contacted members of Congress, senators, and President Bill Clinton. Walter is trying to get the government to work with insurance companies to help pay for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
When someone in your family is sick, you may feel there's nothing you can do to help. But that's not true. You can help your family when someone is sick just by helping out at home.
