There was a time when athletic shoes were worn only for sports or for relaxation. They were called sneakers or tennis shoes back then. And they came in only one or two styles! Now look around you. How many of your classmates are wearing athletic shoes? Are you? Is your teacher? Now, it seems, athletic shoes of many different styles are worn everywhere and for almost every occasion. Athletic shoes are a familiar example of science applied in everyday life. They are a marvelous example of how technology--applied science--helps make daily living more comfort able and often safer.
