The boll is the part of the cotton plant that contains the cotton fibers and seeds. The cotton fibers are used to make cloth. The seeds contain oil. Cottonseed oil is used to make salad oil, margarine, soaps, and cosmetics. The hulls, or outer coverings of the cottonseeds, re used to feed farm animals.
