Long, long ago, people discovered how to weave baskets from grasses. Later they used looms, or frames, to weave cloth from many different plants. The greatest change in making cloth happened in 1785 when a man named Edmund Cartwright invented the first power loom. The machine made weaving cloth faster and less expensive.
