Background Information
When Bytex Corporation moved into its new home in Southboro, Massachusetts, the employees were delighted with their new, pastoral surroundings. They loved looking out at two ponds and beautifully landscaped grounds. Unfortunately for the company and its employees, Canada geese were attracted by the ponds and soon established residence. Shortly after the geese arrived, their messy habits and disturbing noise shattered any peaceful coexistence with Bytex employees.
Facilities manager Norman Heifetz tried everything within legal limits to drive the geese away. He banged on pots and pans to frighten them. It didn't work. He even bought a radio-controlled speedboat to chase the geese, but even that worked only temporarily. The company finally solved the problem by moving.
