Most people in the United States have ancestors who came here from other countries. But a small group of people have ancestors who lived here thousands of years before the Untied States even became a nation. These people are called Native Americans. Many different groups of Native Americans live in the United States. These groups are called tribes. The Navajo nation is the largest tribe in the United States.

Like many other Native Americans, the Navajos were driven off their land by the U.S. government and forced to settle on reservations. The government drove the Navajos out because they were fighting with settlers who wanted to live on Navajo land.
