TO be truly called "world class", Malaysian companies should practise a culture of excellence and benchmark themselves against the best in the world.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz made the call on Saturday at a special ceremony recognising Motorola Malaysia Software Centre's achievement of having the distinction of being assessed at SEI-CMM (Software Engineering Institute-Capability Maturity Model) Software Maturity Level 5.

She said there had been instances when companies claimed that they were of world class just by building huge facilities without really looking into international practices.
