TUCSON, Ariz. _ Kansas' Jeff Boschee kept waiting and waiting. Arizona kept coming and coming.
"All I could do was think how stupid I was to be sitting there with four fouls," said the senior guard. "Stupid, helpless and frustrated."
The 17-point lead KU had built by late in the first half was fading fast Saturday afternoon. Arizona guard Jason Gardner was trying to hold his merry band of freshmen together long enough to show that the fourth-ranked Wildcats' fast start this season was no fluke.
What better way to do it than beating back No. 8 Kansas.
Gardner's three-pointer cut the Jayhawks' lead to eight, and junior forward Luke Walton's baseline jumper dropped it to six with less than seven minutes remaining.
Roy Williams had seen enough.
"It was Boschee's time," said the Kansas coach.
