Seminoles bounce back to beat Ga. Tech.(Knight Ridder Newspapers)
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. _ Look who got spanked and woke up all grown up.
Young Florida State bounced back from its whipping at Florida to defeat Georgia Tech as so many veteran Seminoles teams of the past have done.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Chris Rix and an inspired defensive front brimming with underclassmen sent FSU fans home feeling good about the future.
Rix overcame a halftime deficit by firing for one touchdown pass and spinning his way for another to lead FSU to a 28-17 victory over Georgia Tech. The victory assured Gator Bowl-bound FSU (7-4, 6-2) second place in the ACC behind Maryland, and ended a two-game losing streak.
"I hope one day I can look back and this is the year of the awakening," Bobby Bowden said.
