Jonas Lewis privately faced a life-or-death decision earlier this year.
He could resume life as a promising running back for the 49ers. Or he could risk giving up his dream job and save the life of his half-brother, Jermaine, who desperately needed a kidney transplant.
"If it came down to it, it's all over. I mean there's no choice. That's family. He's my little brother," Jonas said. "This is just my job. In a worst-case scenario, I'll just pick up a pen and start writing for a living."
