Forty minutes of ferocious in-your-face defense and a closing 16-1 rally were the ingredients used by Temple Saturday to beat Villanova, 43-35, in a Big Five women's basketball game at the Liacouras Center.
Temple (2-2, 2-0 Big Five) hounded the Wildcats (4-1, 1-1) into committing an uncharacteristic 26 turnovers, including 15 in the first half. The Owls snapped a streak of 12 losses to `Nova, a streak that began during the 1989-90 season. The Wildcats still have an overall 21-8 advantage in the series between the teams.
