HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING

Congress is currently considering legislation which could have tremendous positive effects on computing professionals, the computer industry, and the public at large. This legislation is the National High Performance Computer Act. This act will implement the recommendations made by the President's Office of Science and Technology Policy in its report "The Federal High Performance Computing Program." The Act authorizes spending of almost a billion dollars over five years to caalyze the efforts of industry, researchers, and federal agencies to support greater U.S. efforts in high performance computing.
