Thermo Goring Kerr, part of Thermo Electron Corporation's Weighing and Inspection Division, has introduced the DS300. This is a new checkweighing system for cans and bottles which is designed to eliminate container end to end transfer problems by incorporating container weighing and transport technology that has only recently been developed, says the company.
The DS300 features a patented system in which, it is said, cans or bottles travel a normal chain conveyor until they arrive at the weigh section where a set of weigh chains are installed. The weigh chains sit only one or two millimetres above and on either side of the transport system, causing the containers to be very slightly raised off the transport conveyor.
