I'm such a jerk," Donny thought to himself. His head was pounding and he felt like he was going to throw up...again. He was already late for his 10th grade math class. Worse than that, when he dragged himself downstairs, his mother took one look at his red eyes and pale skin and sent him right back to bed. "You must be getting the flu," she said, taking his temperature.
Donny couldn't tell his mother that he didn't have the flu. He knew what he had. It was called a hangover: A hangover from drinking in Mikey's garage last night. A hangover that made the room spin every time Donny opened his eyes.
"Well, I guess we won't be able to meet Aunt Lisa today," Donny's mother said. Donny groaned. While Aunt Lisa and Donny's mother were working on a project that afternoon, Donny and his cousin had planned to go to a movie. Donny had been looking forward to it all week. Now, all he wanted to do was pull down the shades and go back to sleep.
Later that afternoon, Mikey called. "That was really fun last night! None of us could believe how much you drank! How about coming over tomorrow night?"
Donny's problem was that he didn't know how to tell his friend that ...
