Michelle and Mandy were looking through a magazine after school. "I'd love to be like her when I get older," Michelle said. She pointed out the woman pictured in an ad for beer.
The woman in the ad was playing a game of volleyball with her friends. They were all smiling and looked like they were having fun. Some of them were drinking beer.
"Can you believe this ad?" Mandy said. "It makes it look like it is so much fun to drink. It's good Mr. Frank told us about alcohol and advertising."
"I know," said Michelle. "Now I see that advertisers are trying to get us to buy things. They want us to believe that it's OK to drink-even though it's illegal for kids."
"Yeah. In this ad they want us to think that if we drink this kind of alcohol, we will have more friends and more fun. That's why they show happy people. Advertisers want us to think that we will be happy if we drink beer."
