MIAMI _ As usual, Dolphins games consistently rank among the most-watched television shows in South Florida. Five times this season, Fins games have ranked No. 1 locally for the week. None of the team's nine games have ranked worse than the fourth highest-rated TV show over any week.

But according to Nielsen Media Research, the Dolphins have lost _ on average _ well over 50,000 viewers from last season. Yes, TV ratings are down in general, but the team's average ratings drop _ from 21.0 last year to 17.7 this season _ is curious.

Particularly unexpected was the 15.7 for Sunday's Jets game on WFOR-4. Among all local programs last week, it trailed only Michael Jackson's special (17.0). But the …
