The announcements started coming in June.

First, X-Ray Optical Systems Inc. of Albany said it met with the president of Taiwan to explore business opportunities in that country.

In September, XOS said it had developed an optical prototype to improve the quality of mammograms. The research was done with the help of a two-year $750,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health.

Earlier this month, XOS announced it had received a two-year $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy that helped the company develop a prototype device to X-ray steel and improve quality during the manufacturing process.
