Kashima Co. Ltd. has developed an air conditioner (Sun Picker), that introduces the carbon lamp heater as it's heating source.

The peak wavelength lies in the domain of far infrared rays, particularly in the range 2.5-8 micron, so that compared with the quartz heater the thermal efficiency is rated as being around 30% better, and the practical usable temperature is attained within 3 seconds.

This is a suspended type air conditioner having an aluminum body of high thermal reflection efficiency and resistance to corrosion. It is fitted with two 900W carbon lamp heaters and two 50W halogen lamps, and is operated by a 200V power unit. The use of far infrared ray heaters provides a stabilising air conditioning effect in opened chambers, and conversely in open environments. There is no air contamination resulting from using the system.
