Execs Changing Views Of Facilities Management

Long-range facilities planning is considered the responsibility of facilities managers.

Sixty-three percent of top executives view the money their organization spends on facilities management as a form of asset management, rather than as an expense. Only 51 percent of facilities managers thought that their senior management would hold this view, according to the 1989 Office Environment Index. The survey was conducted by Louis Harris and Associates, Inc. and sponsored by Steelcase Inc. (See Geyer's August issue for an earlier report on the survey's findings.)
