GMV expects better returns from joint venture firms.

GLOBAL Maritime Ventures Bhd (GMV) expects to perform better this year than the last year in the light of its joint venture companies winning several contracts to carry cargo.

The company's joint ventures that are expected to assist in this year's performance are Malaysian Bulk Carriers Sdn Bhd, Wawasan Shipping Sdn Bhd and Benua Seni Sdn Bhd.

Chairman Datuk Ahmad Sufian said Malaysian Bulk Carriers Sdn Bhd will make a profit of some RM100 million, while Wawasan Shipping Sdn Bhd is expected to rake in of RM50 million.

He added that Benua Seni Sdn Bhd, which operates a container vessel, will be back in the black next year.
