Boynton Beach YMCA took cooperation of village people.(Brief Article)

This year it cost $7.8 million to add a little bit of community to Boynton Beach.

The building of the 12-acre DeVos-Blum Family YMCA of Boynton Beach came together because independent interests - including Bethesda Memorial Hospital, which helped guarantee and finance the project, and Weaver Development Corp., which made it possible for the YMCA of South Palm Beach County to acquire the land -- wanted to see a YMCA in the area.

Two local families - Teena and Peter Blum and Helen and Richard DeVos - also stepped forward as major financial supporters of the project.
