Two large Boston commercial real estate firms have disbanded portions of their retail brokerages.

The Boston office of Spaulding & Slye Corners disbanded its retail-tenant representation/leasing division and "de-emphasized" its retail property management functions, while Trammell Crow Co. also discontinued its retail-leasing division, according to company representatives.

Spaulding & Slye closed down its four employee leasing division in August--a move sources said was prompted by two brokers heading for "greener pastures" at another company. The company scaled back its six-person retail property management division at the same time.
