Startup banks finding capital in tough climate.(Brief Article)

Conditions remain fight for raising capital, but organizers of Pacific International Bank have succeeded in attracting $6.6 million and plan to open the Korean-American bank in Seattle on Nov. 15.

If Pacific International founders have crossed home plate, the long-suffering organizers of Eastside Commercial Bank are rounding third base.

Hard at it since January, they've had to ask regulators for three extensions of their deadline to finish raising the minimum $5 million.

"We're getting there," said Eastside Commercial president Mike Luiten. 'We're at $4.4 million, and hope to finish up by the end of the month.
