SEC readies governance reform rules.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) plans to issue circulars covering disclosure requirements, accounting standards, and investor protection to strengthen its position in enforcing corporate governance reforms.

Among the measures it recommends is an outreach program to educate investors of their rights and risks, to ensure the protection of minority investors, SEC said in a report.

Seminars on various investing groups such as employees, small businessmen, and college students may also be conducted, it added.

SEC also said it is looking into requiring companies to disclose, within a reasonable period, all matters taken up in board meetings. …
