GMA asks ASEAN leaders to push for.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo yesterday asked leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to lobby for "sustainable development" at the World Trade Organization (WTO) ministerial meeting in Doha next month.

In her keynote address at the 10th East Asia Economic Summit in Hong Kong, the President said the WTO meeting may well be the defining moment on how ASEAN faces the issue of globalization.

"It is in these meetings that we can address the concerns of those affected by globalization and find ways to make sure that the policies we put in place will lead to sustainable development," she said.
