WASHINGTON Three Crownpoint residents have appealed to Sen. Jeff Bingaman in an attempt to keep uranium mining provisions out of his version of an energy bill.

Rep. Heather Wilson, an Albuquerque Republican, included $30 million in funding for uranium mining research and cleanup in the energy bill (HR 4) she introduced this summer.

Sen. Pete Domenici, also an Albuquerque Republican, included similar provisions in his Nuclear Energy Electricity Assurance Act.
