The Codex Committee for General Principles has been asked to define the role of traceability in risk management, but the responsibilities of other Codex committees remain "a little fuzzy," according to a U.S. Codex official (see FTR, October, Page 1).
Ellen Matten, who attended the Codex Executive Committee meeting Sept. 26-27 in Geneva, Switzerland, reported that some Executive Committee members were unhappy with a preliminary decision that other committees should not begin new work on traceability until the CCGP has completed its task, which could take years.
