2001 NOV 8 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A Kaiser Permanente program aimed at preventing domestic violence increased the number of referrals to an on-site professional 260% in one year.
The Family Violence Prevention Project started in May 1998 at the Kaiser Permanente facility in Richmond, California. It is a comprehensive approach that incorporates four elements:
* Tools that help clinicians know what questions to ask and how to help
* Materials all medical center staffs can distribute to patients
* Training for social and mental health professionals to help them provide domestic violence evaluations
* Direct links to community resources for patients who need help
