FBI publishes security tips for private-sector computer users.(Brief Article)

In an effort to promote computer security to small businesses and home users, the National Infrastructure Protection Center in Washington, D.C., part of the FBI, has published "Seven Simple Computer Security Tips."

Phoenix FBI agent Thomas Liffiton said, in light of recent threats to our national security, the FBI needs the private sector's help more than ever to protect our communications infrastructure -- that means each citizen taking these tips home as well.

The security tips are:

* Use strong passwords that are difficult or impossible to guess. Give different passwords to all accounts.

* Make backups of critical data at least once each …
