Jakarta, Oct 29 (ANTARA) - State-owned electricity company PLN needs at least 300 million US dollars in 2002 for the repowering of its 700-MW Muara Karang and 1000-MW Muara Tawar power plants, in anticipation of an electricity shortage in Java and Bali in 2003 and 2004, PLN president Eddie Widiono said in Jakarta on Monday.
He said the source of the money, however, preferrably a soft loan, is still being sought. "We have tried to secure overseas sources, as a repowering project normally needs huge amount of funds, at least 500 dollars per kilowatt," he said.
