As hopes fade for the rapid deployment of third-generation wireless technology, some venture capitalists have begun to back other emerging wireless standards.
The latest beneficiary of this trend is Flarion Technologies Inc. of Bedminster, N.J., a wireless network technology provider that announced Oct. 29 it has closed on a $45 million second round of funding led by Pequot Ventures. Other new investors were Cisco Systems Inc. and Nassau Capital.
Prior investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Charles River Ventures and Lucent Technologies Inc.'s New Venture Group returned.
